Signing Ceremony for sponsoring the National Fund for Vietnamese Children

On 18th May, 2012 at the head office of the Ministry of Labour - Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), the Vice President of Vietnam Madame Nguyen Thi Doan, the Chairman of the Protection Council of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children (NFVC), the Minister of the MOLISA Madame Pham Thi Hai Chuyen attended and witnessed the signing ceremony among 4 foreign companies in the field of petroleum and gas to sponsor the NFVC.

This is the contentofthe sponsorship agreementsigning ceremony for upgradingfacilitiesofschools and awarding scholarships tochildren indifficult circumstances inprovinces of CaMau, KienGiang, Bac Lieu, HauGiangandCan Tho Citybetween the NFVC and the Chevroncompany(USA) and its sponsorship partners including Petro Vietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP), Mitsui Oil Exploration Co., Ltd. (Japan) and PTT Exploration and Production Public Co., Ltd (Thailand).
In the past two years, the project supported the construction and upgradation of 10 schools in the Mekong Delta. Particularly in 2011, the project awarded nearly 800 scholarships for children in difficult circumstances; each scholarship is worth 1.2 million VND.
The whole country has more than 1.6 million children in special circumstances who need care and protection. Out of this number, there were 1.2 million children with disabilities. Therefore, social work in the protection, care and education of children is essential.
In the last 20 years, the NFVC has mobilized 3,600 billion VND, supporting more than 27 million children nationwide through a variety of programs such as health care, humanitarian surgeries, awarding scholarships, providing clean water and emergency aid for children in flood affected areas, building recreation grounds and meeting other needs
