The Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the Interior have released a joint circular instructing the implementation of supporting money for lunch for kindergarten children, according to the regulations of Decision 60/2011/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.

Accordingly, five groups of kindergarten children will be provided with money for lunches. They are: five-year children studying at kindergartens according to Decision 239/QD-TTg on popularizing preschool education for five-year-old children in the 2010-2015 period; 3-5 year-old children who are from ethnic minority groups; 3-4 year-old children at kindergarten whose parents live in border, mountainous or island communes, or specially disadvantaged communes; 3-4 year-old children from poor households; and 3-4 year old orphans or disabled children studying at kindergarten.

Beneficiaries will be provided support dating from September 2012.

Earlier, a journalist sent a letter to the Minister of Education and Training asking about slow meal support for kindergarten children in disadvantaged areas.

The Prime Minister issued Decision 60/2011/QĐ-TTg on October 26, 2011 on subsidising kindergarten children aged between three and four in remote, mountainous and disadvantaged areas with VND120,000 (USD5.73) per month each for their lunches at school./.
