Action month for children 2013 to be held in June

Action month for children 2013 will take place from June 1-30 with the theme "Creating equal development opportunities for poor and ethnic minority children".

The Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) will coordinate with Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee to hold a ceremony to launch Action Month for Children 2013, scheduled to take place on June 1.

On this occasion, appropriate authorities will create more playgrounds, various cultural activities, entertainments and sports in communities, schools, cultural houses, libraries, parks and in the mass media during the action month for children and the summer holiday. The aim is to improve conditions for poor children, children in mountainous areas and ethnic minority children, and children in special circumstances to go sightseeing, travel, and join cultural and sports events.

At the same time, organizing educational activities to provide children with skills to protect themselves from and avoid falling into social evils, risks of abuse, violence, labour exploitation, prevent accidents (especially traffic accidents and drowning), and help them learn how to use transport safely, swim and how to administer first aid after an accident or injury.

The purpose of the action month is to attract the attention of all levels of administrations, sectors, families and society about the meaning, importance and the targeted objectives of care, education and protection of children as well as prevention and limitation of negative impacts on children in the new situation.

At the same time, the action month also aims to implement policies and programs more effectively, mobilize society to more actively improve living conditions, creating equal development opportunities for poor children, children in mountainous areas and ethnic minority children and children with special circumstances./.
